Simran is passionate about working with children, adolescents, adults, and families. She finds immense fulfillment in guiding individuals of all ages through their unique challenges and life transitions. With children, she creates a nurturing and playful environment to help them express their emotions and build healthy coping skills. With adolescents, she encourages self-discovery and resilience, empowering them to navigate the complexities of growing up. With adults, she provides a supportive space to explore personal struggles, relationships, and life goals. Simran finds joy in fostering growth and connection across generations, helping each client and family unit flourish in their unique way.
In her therapeutic practice, Simran utilizes a range of evidence-based techniques to support her clients. She incorporates play-based interventions to help children express emotions and develop healthy coping skills in a nurturing environment. Cognitive-behavioural therapy (CBT) forms a cornerstone of her approach, enabling clients to challenge and reframe negative thought patterns, while solution-focused therapy (SFT) guides clients toward practical steps for positive change. Dialectical behavioural therapy (DBT) is used to enhance emotional regulation and interpersonal effectiveness. Simran is also well-versed in attachment-based interventions and emotion-focused therapy (EFT), both of which are instrumental in fostering secure relationships and understanding the emotional experiences of clients. Mindfulness practices further enhance her clients' ability to remain present and self-aware. Additionally, she provides comprehensive parent support, empowering caregivers to develop responsive parenting styles that nurture their child's unique needs. By blending these therapeutic approaches, Simran creates a compassionate and collaborative environment that empowers her clients to build resilience and embrace growth.
Her academic background includes a Bachelor of Science Degree with a major in Psychology from University of Alberta, and a Master of Counselling degree from City University of Seattle. She is a Registered Provisional Psychologist, in good standing with the College of Alberta Psychologists and the Psychologists Association of Alberta.
